Rocket League Sideswipe, a mobile spin-off of developer Psyonix’s popular car soccer game on PC and console, kicks off its first season of content today.

The first season will come with its own free Rocket Pass, which will allow for cosmetic items to be unlocked by playing online matches. Psyonix explained that Competitive Ranks have been reset and players can play in Ranked Online Matches to receive rewards based on their highest Competitive Rank once Season 1 ends. Anyone who participated in pre-season activities will be rewarded with a title based on the rank that they received during this time.

Sony has updated the PlayStation 5, though the differences are so subtle you may have never noticed them. The new model is very slightly lighter than the original PS5, and it uses a new screw to attach the base stand that no longer requires the use of a screwdriver.

The Australian site Press Start noticed the models in the wild in the region, followed by Eurogamer finding them in the UK. According to those reports, the new model is roughly 0.6 pounds lighter than the original PS5 model, though it’s unclear what Sony may have changed about the production to make the weight difference. The more noticeable change from a consumer angle is the addition of a thumbscrew so you can adjust it by hand, whereas the previous model required a screwdriver.

The new PS5s are called by a new model number, CFI-1102A, as opposed to the originals, which were CFI-1000. We had previously heard about this revised model, but now it appears they’re going out into the wild, at least in some regions.

In 2023, the video game industry will see prices increase “across the board,” according to one analyst. Dr. Serkan Toto of Kantan Games said in an interview with GI.biz that fans should expect price hikes for games, hardware, and subscriptions as studios attempt to make up for rising costs.

“Not all studios have hiked prices to keep up with the rise of production and other costs in game development so far, but gamers are likely to see prices go up across the board in 2023,” Toto said.

Microsoft, for example, has already announced that it is raising prices on its AAA games in 2023 from $60 to $70. All of Microsoft’s games are also included with Xbox Game Pass, and some believe that subscription service will see a price increase, too.

Toto said of his predicted price increase, “I believe this trend will not only affect individual AAA titles but also subscriptions and hardware, especially from Microsoft.”

The Nintendo Switch, however, won’t see a price increase in 2023, Toto said. Things could change, however, if Nintendo releases new hardware, as has been rumored for some time.

Production is set to start in April on Return to Silent Hill, the latest installment in the franchise based on the popular Konami horror video games. According to a release, director Christophe Gans will return for the sequel, and Jeremy Irvine (War Horse) and Hannah Emily Anderson (Jigsaw, X-Men: Dark Phoenix) are set to star.

Return to Silent Hill is based on Silent Hill 2, and comes from a script by Gans, Sandra Vo-Anh, and William Josef Schneider. A synopsis reads: “The film follows James, a man broken after being separated from his one true love. When a mysterious letter calls him back to Silent Hill in search of her, he finds a once-recognizable town transformed by an unknown evil. As James descends deeper into the darkness, he encounters terrifying figures both familiar and new and begins to question his own sanity as he struggles to make sense of reality and hold on long enough to save his lost love.”
